On this last full day of the trip, we were finally going on the hike we planned from the beginning, the Verada do Areeio - Pico Ruivo hike.
This ~10 kilometer hike is considered "hard" and traverses about 1 kilometer of vertical distance.
You hike from peak to peak, dropping down 250 meters to traverse a couple of tunnels.
On the other side of the tunnels you'll have to climb to the peak.
And after that it's the reverse.
And after a couple of gruelling hours on the way back, we finally got a glimpse of the starting point, Pico do Areeio.
About 27.000 steps and 300(!) floors climbed later we were back at the beginning, rewarding ourselves with a delicious cold coke and a kilometer-long trip back to the car.
