Day sixteen
This morning, I was on a side quest. I know exactly where my earbuds are; it's just that they are at the previous hotel, which is 367 kilometers away.
So after breakfast, I headed to the electronics store in the part of town.
Despite their best efforts with lots of calls, they didn't have the earbuds I was looking for ("no stick" because I sleep on them), so I continued with touristy things instead!
Next to Xiamen Island is another smaller island called Gulangyu. It was the only place Europeans were allowed to stay, and the architecture had a very distinct non-Chinese style.
There are no cars, and it's filled with places to eat and snack, which is a great way to spend the 30-degree day!
I didn't research the island and had no idea what to expect or where things were. I did see a "mountain" peak with a view, so that seemed like a good place to start!
The views were really nice.
I spotted a beach not far away. Perfect to get a drink (Procari Sweat).
The island was such a nice place to walk around, with nice weather and a very "chill vibe."
I left the island for some food, fried rice with beef (and amazing "Wok Hei").
It was getting dark soon, and yesterday, I walked past something I wanted to explore a bit more today. It was a mountainside all lit up with a viewpoint towards Gulangyu.
s the evening fell, I hung around the viewpoint, climbing upstairs to different points and looking for the best place to take photos.
I wasn't alone in this; there were dozens of people milling around with cameras; it was so cool to see!
