Day fourteen
Another day, another high-speed train. After breakfast it was once again into the taxi and to the train station.
The train ride was about two hours long and I arrived just after noon in xiamen.

It was another forty minutes by metro to the hotel, and luckily they could check me in early, so I could drop the bags and head out to explore Xiamen.
First, the area around the hotel, where I discovered several fruit and vegetables stores, convenience stores and a shopping mall. (Remember, there’s always food in a shopping mall basement).
I then made my way to the lake and wandered around the shoreline until I came across a bridge to the little island in the middle.
There were tons of people exercising or taking a leisurely stroll.
From the island, I walked to the ferry terminal about one hour away, getting some delicious food along the way.
This walk also cut through a neighborhood with small alleys filled with markets and shops. I love these!
Xiamen is an island, just like Hong Kong and I got similar vibes here. The old apartment buildings look the same and there’s also plenty of modern stuff around.
From the ferry terminal and the pedestrian walk-way that surrounds the island, I made my way down the main shopping corridor to the metro station back to the hotel.
